Gua Tambun Cave Paintings
The ancient cave paintings of Gua Tambun are an obscure tourist attraction in the northern district of Tambun, the entrance hidden in a small housing estate facing the limestone hill. Believed to be of neolithic origin, they were discovered in 1959 by a British soldier. The cave can be reached by following Jalan Tambun from the city; right before it crosses underneath the North-South Highway towards Tambun town, is an exit to 'Panorama Tambun Perdana' on the opposite side of the road. Make a U-turn and hit this sharp junction to enter the housing area. The entrance lies next to an old, shady rain tree facing a large field, indicated by an aging signboard on a wall.
